Gulf Hills Garden Club Christmas Lagniappe in Ocean Springs,Mississippi

Here's a Christmas wish from the Gulf Hills Garden Club to you and your family.

We wish you joy all through the Holidays.

We wish you good luck that forever stays.

We wish you the love of family and friends.

We wish you happy days the never end and a  Merry Christmas to you all.

Here we present a few pictures from our Club Christmas party.  I hope you enjoy them.

It was very festive with 21 attending the party at the Lagniappe Restaurant in downtown Ocean Springs.  We, also, held our annual silent auction that benefits the many projects of our Club.  Thank you to all that contributed wonderful items and to those that purchased them.

Our club members Julie, Mary Ann and Michael created the display of the many silent auction items.  Thank you all for a great job.

Molly was awarded a beautiful "Happy Holidays" work of yard art, for her work at the Memorial Garden for the Christmas tree lighting this year. The award was hand crafted by our own Pat!

Patsy, the owner of  "Lagniappe", was also recognized for her outstanding work  preparing the evening's food, drink and decor!

Gulf Hills Garden Club Christmas Tree Lighting in the Memorial Garden

On December 5, 2015, the Gulf Hills Garden Club held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting in the Memorial Garden.

The weather was perfect, the treats were great and the attendees totaled more than 100.

Santa paid his first visit to the Memorial Garden with over 30 children climbing onto his lap for a photo opportunity and to whisper their Christmas desires to our Club Santa.  The group heard carols from the Scared Heart Elementary School choir and then the lights on our newly planted Louisiana Sapphire Christmas tree were turned on.

The featured magnificent Reindeer was loaned to the Club by Pat DeHaan.  And we thank her very much.  Many, many Gulf Hills Garden Club members worked many hours on the lights.  Thank you to Mary Ann, Marge, Jeanette, and Danny, also to
Sam, and Pat, who are not members, that put in many hours of labor as well.
Molly and her elves provided the Holiday table decorations and many of the treats.  Thank you to Fay, Beth, Marge, Mary Ann for also providing wonderful treats. Non- member elves were Lou and Ken who helped with the setting up and clean up.
It was nice to see so many of our neighbors joining in the merriment of the evening.  The lights received an overwhelming round of “oohs and ahs” of approval from the group.
The Gulf Hills Garden Club wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and much happiness in the New Year.

CHRISTMAS IS ARRIVING IN THE HILLS

The Gulf Hills Garden Club is kicking off the Season with the Annual Tree Lighting in the Memorial Garden, Shore Drive, on Dec. 5, 5:00 pm.  This year there will be a photo opportunity for children with handmade and painted penguins from the North Pole, delicious Holiday Treats, caroling and beverages.  A special Thank you to Pat for all her design capabilities, wood working skills, unique painting talents and the love of glitter!

Molly will cast her spell to create a magical evening for all of us.   Jeanette has been gathering the decorations for the trees and turning the garden into a vision of sugar plums.  Thank you ladies and all of Santa' Garden Helpers who have worked so hard in preparing this gala event.

Also, you won’t want to miss the arrival of YOU KNOW WHO…..  plus other “knock your socks off” garden decorations that will amaze!!!

You are encouraged to bring a folding chair and plan to enjoy the evening with neighbors, old and new friends.

The Gulf Hills Garden Club and the Pine and Ridge Triangle Garden.

A big, huge, Gulf Hills Garden Club thank you to club member Danny Guice!   He was able to transform a small overgrown weed haven, into a very neat,  xeriscape” (drought tolerant) garden.  Danny did a lot of planning and research to determine which low water, low, maintenance plants to use.  He also managed to save some of the plantings he found on site and reincorporate them as legacy plants, linking the old plantings to the new.  Thank you for a job well done!

If you are in Gulf Hills and have a moment, go by the Pine road and Ridge road Triangle and take a look at this recently renewed garden.  A showcase of low maintenance gardening.

The October Meeting of the Gulf Hills Garden Club and a Special Birthday!

The October Gulf Hills Garden Club meeting at the home of club member, Beth M.  She and her hosts provided a delicious brunch buffet with Mimosas.  A heartfelt thank you to her and her hosts Mollie, Jeanette and Danny.  And thank you Mary Ann for a very meaningful devotion.

The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers on each of the many tables.  Danny furnished a dozen multi-hued gourmet eggs from his chickens as a door prize.

We had four guests:  Former members, Carol G. and Marge D., so very nice to see these ladies again; and Martha C. and Pat DeHaan.
The program for the meeting was a presentation of the goals from the Garden Clubs of Mississippi and the National Garden Club organization.

Pleasures and Challenges from our Garden this month was a discussion of “What does a garden mean to you?”  Members paired to reflect and share gardening experiences.  Michael brought a leaf from a plant he could not identify and none of us could either
.
The members of the Gulf Hills Garden Club surprised our president with a Birthday Cake.

Next meeting is November 19.
